Stairwell doors that keep the escape stair clear of smoke

Self-closing fire doors onto protected stairwells and landings — fire-rated to your design, so the stair that people escape down stays clear of flame and smoke.

  • Self-closing
  • Certified
  • Made to measure
  • Decree No. 41
In short: A stairwell door separates the escape stair from the floors around it. Unigon supplies it as a certified fire door (EI 45, 60, 90 or 120), self-closing so it is never propped open, made to measure for each landing. The required class comes from the building's fire-safety design under Government of Georgia Decree No. 41.

In most multi-storey buildings the stairwell is the protected escape route — the one place that must stay usable while a fire spreads elsewhere. The doors onto that stair are what keep it protected: fire-rated to hold back flame and heat, and self-closing so they shut themselves rather than relying on someone to remember.

Unigon supplies stairwell and landing doors as certified fire doors in the class your design calls for (EI 45, 60, 90 or 120), each made to the exact size of the opening. The required class for every door on the stair is set by the building's fire-safety design prepared under the technical regulation approved by Government of Georgia Decree No. 41 — send us the door schedule and we match each opening to its certified class.

FAQ

Stairwell doors — common questions

Why do stairwell doors need to be self-closing?

Because a stair door only protects the escape route when it is shut. A self-closing device returns the door to the closed position on its own, so the protection does not depend on anyone remembering to close it.

Which fire class does a stairwell door need?

That comes from the building's fire-safety design, prepared under the technical regulation approved by Government of Georgia Decree No. 41. Different doors on the same stair can need different classes — send the door schedule and we match each one.

Can a stairwell door have a vision panel?

Yes, where it helps to see onto the landing before opening. The panel is part of the certified assembly, made to measure with the door.

Do you supply the whole stair core for a building?

Yes. Stairwell, landing and corridor fire doors come from one factory on one schedule, each matched to its class, with certificates handed over at delivery.

Do you deliver outside Tbilisi?

Yes. We supply and install across Tbilisi, Batumi, Kobuleti, Rustavi and other cities in Georgia.
